Let the hill and the bus route decide
Wellington packs a lot into a small area, but a nearby suburb is not always a flat walk away. Te Herenga Waka has campuses in Kelburn, Pipitea and Te Aro, so the best location depends on where most of your week happens. Kelburn, Aro Valley, Te Aro, Mount Cook and Newtown each offer a different balance of campus access, city access and hill climbing.
Check the route at the time you will actually travel. Metlink connects the city and wider region by bus, train and ferry, but the useful question is whether your flat has a direct service when you need it. At the property, pay close attention to sun, wind exposure, heating and signs of moisture.
