The separate living room and kitchen layout isn't ideal and it gets cold in winter, like every flat in Dunedin, but overall it's a great place. The location is fantastic, close to the university and Castle Street, and the price is very reasonable compared to most. Gareth, our landlord from Cutlers, is extremely professional and always quick to send someone to fix things when needed. The only downside is the shower pressure.

The location of the flat is great, but it's freezing cold in the winter—I can see my breath in my room at all hours of the day. The kitchen and lounge not being connected is a bit of a downer for socializing, and dealing with the landlord through the property manager can be a bit challenging. Overall, the cold is definitely the worst part.
Some of the rooms are awesome, and I was lucky to have a sunny room that made for a warmer winter. The shower pressure is pretty good, but it’s annoying that the lounge and kitchen are separate, and another toilet would be ideal. I could hear my flatmate having sex, which was not good. I don’t know the landlord, but the property manager was very on to it.
My first flat was a great experience overall, with some bedrooms getting plenty of sun and my room being a highlight with its cool-colored walls. However, the living room was very cold and separate from the kitchen, which made it hard to socialize since we often ended up huddled in bed after dinner. On the plus side, the property manager was fantastic and addressed issues like my roof leak promptly. I also appreciated having an outdoor area to enjoy.
The flat was good, but I found it too small for my needs. One of the best things was that no one cooked in the house at the same time, which made things easier. Overall, it had its pros and cons.
