Landlord never be in contact as problems persist

We moved in the landlord gave us a welcome basket, said if there’s anything we need please let him know, super nice guy..and then we never saw him again. At one point we had no reliable heat, our heat pump would break every few weeks until it just never turned on again, a missing window in the toilet, single pain windows and literally no heat at all. It’s just a super old house that has had students in it forever. The bonus of never seeing him was that we could do literally anything, we moved our friends in, had pets, put posters all over the walls and just made the most of the place. Rent was cheap($75 each), loved the walk-through the botanical Gardens every morning, New World is right there. And because of the student college next door you always got free coffee cups left on the front wall. I don’t know where he went, or if he just pulled the ‘ gone to the store to get milk’ card but hey, when in Knoxville. I want to know if the d*ck on the shower roof light is still there.
