The house is warm and holds heat well, with sunny rooms that get plenty of light, though it is weirdly creaky—if someone walks around, you can definitely hear it. The landlord is great and will gladly fix anything promptly. The best part for me was how warm and sunny it felt, especially with the rooms upstairs away from the lounge, but the worst thing is that the walls are actually painted air.

The flat is in a pretty good location, facing the sun most of the time, which keeps it warm and cozy, especially during winter. The landlord is great at fixing appliances, but he was hesitant to address the horrific internet situation we faced. We used WIC NZ for internet, which was advertised as fibre optic but was borderline unusable—extremely slow and constantly cutting out. If you decide to rent this flat, I strongly recommend changing internet providers right away to avoid the frustration we experienced.
The house had thin walls, which made it quite noisy since it was a hostel, but it was warm and had good ventilation in the bathrooms. The landlord was a nice guy, which added to the experience.
I lived in a modern flat on Great King Street, which was well-insulated and warm in winter, making it a comfortable home. The location on Fatty Lane is great, though the 10-minute walk to uni feels a bit far at times. The landlord is fantastic—reliable and efficient, always responding to queries within a day and quick to fix any issues.
